What a week!

This has been one busy week! The Hubby temporarily changed shifts this week to cover someone else, so instead of having to leave at 5:30 every morning he's been leaving at 6:30. Which means that since I still get up at 5 to go for a walk, he was able to join me this week! That also means that I was able to walk a little longer since I didn't have to try to be home to see him off. My week at work was a little out of the ordinary too. My boss asked me to retake the Montessori philosophy training. Which basically means that I spent 8 hours a day for four days sitting in a camp chair (rather than wooden one designed for little children) and listening to another teacher talk about a bunch of stuff that I already know and have extensive notes on. We're talking a 3 inch 3 ring binder full of notes and articles on the topic.
In other news, my parents ended up coming over for dinner two days in a row. Which was great, except that I didn't get much done. They came over to help us hang the shades that the in-laws helped us get for our windows. When we moved in a month ago, all of the windows had those plastic vertical blinds. And many of those were broken. One window in the living room only had 4 still attached.

So Monday, when my parents came over we made dinner and my dad and The Hubby were able to get shades put up in three windows. My dad also took a look at our sprinkler system and helped us get it up and running too. We have a desert landscape so it's nothing too exciting. But in doing that we discovered that we had a broken pipe! It was one of those that has a stopper on the end rather than a sprinkler head. So my dad ran to the store and got another one and taught The Hubby how to fix it. Well, when the second cycle started we discovered two more geysers on the other side of the yard! We still need to get those ones fixed.

So Tuesday my parents came over again and brought dinner and my sister with them. Dad and The Hubby put up the other three shades, but the one above the sink caused some trouble. It was really awkward and hard to reach. It was amusing to watch my dad standing in the sink, though.
The shades let in a lot more light than the blinds did and they keep out some of the heat. Which doesn't seem to make a whole lot of difference when it's 112 or hotter outside. And I think they look much nicer than the blinds did. I can't wait until we can afford to do the bedroom windows too.
Other than that, I feel like I haven't done a whole lot this week. I've been working on catching up on my temperature blanket. And working on the talk I gave in church this morning. Yesterday I was actually rather productive, though. Especially compared to last weekend when I got sick. I actually managed to unpack three more boxes yesterday. And I finally found my cross stitching threads that I thought I lost! That was exciting.
And today The Hubby and I made some blueberry bread. My dad took us shopping at Costco a couple of weeks ago and we bought a big container of fresh blueberries there. We both enjoy blueberries, but this was more than we could eat. So The Hubby found a recipe for blueberry bread that we actually had all the ingredients for. Since I'm allergic to wheat, we used gluten free flour, but it still turned out fantastic! And once I get done writing tonight we're going to try a recipe for some blueberry oatmeal cookies!
I guess that's about it for this week. Nothing terribly exciting. But as long as I get to spend time with The Hubby, I count it as a good week. And spending time with family is nice too.
What do you like to do during the week?
